As of today, it is clear that a total of six players on expiring contracts will not extend with the Oslo club.
Besides Mika Partanen, Auk and Bengtsson, this applies to Markus Søberg, Alex Dostie and Joona Partanen. Mika Partanen, the team’s point king in the regular season, recently suffered a knee injury that requires surgery, and it is not out of the question that he could become a VIF player again at a later date.
– As of now, he is not a Vålerenga player next season, but we will keep the dialogue with Mika and see how he feels when he is back after rehabilitation, says sports manager Anders Myrvold to VIF’s website.
Furthermore, it is stated, among other things, that Dostie is traveling home to the United States and is considering staying there.
Vålerenga made it to the final in the NM play-offs this spring, but lost there 1-4 in the best-of-seven series against Storhamar.
– The job of building up a powerful team for the coming season has been going full steam ahead for a long time already. The club also has a clear goal to always operate financially sustainably, and this also applies to player budgets, says Myrvold.
