Slash fans in Budapest were treated to a special treat over the weekend. The Guns N’ Roses guitarist played the song “Perfect Crime” with his solo band for the first time.

Change of singer for “Perfect Crime”

Bassist Todd Kerns took over vocals for this song. Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge, who actually sings with Slash, briefly left his position as frontman. It’s not the first time on the Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators tour that Slash has played old Guns N’ Roses songs: he’s also performed “Don’t Damn Me” and “Bad Apples.”

Difficult live history

The three songs shared the release on the third Guns N’ Roses album “Use Your Illusion I” from 1991. The live life of “Perfect Crime” was particularly short-lived: the rock band last played it on August 8th August 1992 during their tour with Metallica. The concert in question in Montreal, however, is less known for its song selection than for the fact that Metallica frontman James Hetfield had an accident with pyrotechnics on stage, that Guns N’ Roses were kept waiting for hours after Metallica’s emergency departure, and Frustrated fans began violent riots in the streets. The band around Axl Rose and Slash has since been banned from the Olympic Stadium in the Canadian city.

Slash: New solo album coming soon

The guitarist is currently touring his solo album “4”, released in 2022, the fourth album he recorded in the compilation Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators. The group is playing concerts until the end of the month. Then the next album “Orgy Of The Damned” will be released in mid-May, a blues cover album with different vocal guests on each track. AC/DC’s Brian Johnson and Iggy Pop will be there, among others. Slash is going on tour again in the summer.
