Domenico De Rosa, CEO of the SMET Group, was awarded the title of Knight of the Republic. The Award of Merit was awarded to him by President Sergio Mattarella, following an indication from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. This prestigious recognition is awarded every year by the President of the Republic to citizens who have distinguished themselves in the economic, cultural, artistic, civil and military fields.
De Rosa actively contributes to the education of new generations, engaging in collaboration with the most important local universities. He is a subject expert at the Master’s Degree course in Management Engineering at the Parthenope University of Naples, as well as being a member of the Technical Steering Committee of the Degree course in Corporate Law at the University of Salerno. “We have decided to invest part of our time in the future of the country, transferring to young people the passion, experience and knowledge acquired over many years of entrepreneurial activity”, commented De Rosa.
Thanks to the innovative drive in the transport and logistics sector, in 2022 De Rosa was appointed member of the Scientific Technical Committee of the National Association of Young Innovators (ANGI). Innovation, a fundamental value and inspiring principle of De Rosa’s company, is reflected daily not only in the new sustainable transport model, but also in every corporate decision, such as the use of artificial intelligence. This instrument, which represents an unprecedented economic, social and cultural revolution, must be approached with the right balance between innovation and ethics.
The new sustainable transport model promoted by the SMET Group was born in the 1990s thanks to a strategic intuition: exploiting the enormous potential of maritime and railway intermodality not only in economic terms, but above all in terms of environmental sustainability. Today, the SMET Group, which has consolidated its business to reach European leadership in the sector, operates mainly in intermodality, reserving only the first and last mile for the road route, using latest generation vehicles powered by alternative fuels to diesel.
