Space Mountain Erupts Again, Its Status Has Increased Again, So Watch Out

Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) reported that Mount Ruang in Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi, erupted again. The status of Mount Ruang has risen again to level IV or alert.

Based on PVMBG information, Tuesday (30/4/2024), Mount Ruang erupted at 02.35 WIB. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 55 mm and a duration of 600 seconds.

It was also reported that the height of the ash column was observed to be approximately 2,000 meters above the peak.

“The activity level of Mount Ruang in Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi, has been raised from level III (Alert) to level IV (Awas),” said PVMBG information via account X.

PVMBG urges the public to stay away from a 6 km radius from the center of the active crater of Mount Ruang. People living on Tagulandang Island within a 6 km radius are advised to immediately evacuate to a safe place.

“People on Tagulandang Island, especially those who live near the monitoring area, should be aware of the potential for throwing massage rocks, hot clouds and tsunamis caused by the collapse of the volcano’s body into the sea,” wrote PVMBG.
