A young Orthodox Jew spat on the Benedictine abbot Schnabel, while another young man blasphemed and insulted the cleric. The gesture was condemned by Antonio Tajani who posted a video on X accompanied by a comment: “I condemn the act of vulgar intolerance suffered in Jerusalem by the Benedictine abbot Schnabel to whom our solidarity goes. Freedom of religion is a priority. The Italian Government deems it necessary to respect the coexistence between peoples and religions in the Holy Land”.
