The team coached by Mariano Soso was intense from the start. Pressuring the opponent’s ball, Rubro-Negro from Pernambuco created good chances until breaking through Afogados’ defense.
In the 25th minute, Romarinho made a beautiful move on the left and passed it to Zé Roberto inside the area. The center forward spun and left Pedro Vilhena to open the scoring.
Rodrigo equalized for the visitors in the 33rd minute, but Manoel Barbosa da Silva Neto disallowed the goal.
