Sporting Cristal achieved a narrow victory at home against Alianza Atlético in a duel valid for date 14 of the Liga 1 2024 Apertura Tournament. With goals from Nicolás Pasquini and Martín Cauteruccio, the ‘celestes’ regained the lead of the first contest of the year at the Alberto Gallardo stadium.
In the first half, those led by Enderson Moreira took the lead in the game and went on the attack. The ‘churre’ goalkeeper, Diego Melián, was an accomplice in the goals of the left back (10′) and the Argentine scorer (14′). In both situations, the goalkeeper could have done more, but he gave them up to the ‘Rimense’ footballers. Adrián Fernández, forward of the visiting team, had two penalties to take: he missed the first one, although he was later able to take revenge to score the discount.
During the second half, both teams had excellent chances, however, the ball did not go in and the score remained intact. In this way, Sporting Cristal returned to first place in the Apertura Tournament by adding 34 points, while Alianza Atlético fell to fifteenth place with 13 points.
