Sporting visited Porto this Sunday and drew 2-2 in the Portuguese Championship. The home team’s goals were scored by Brazilians Evanilson and Pepê. On the visitors’ side, Swedish top scorer Viktor Gyokeres scored twice.
With the draw, Sporting leads the national tournament with 81 points. Porto was in third place, with 63 points. Benfica, in turn, has 76 and is second in the standings.
Sporting’s next challenge will be at 2pm (Brasília time) on Saturday, when they host Portimonense, in the Portuguese Championship. On the same day, away from home, Porto faces Chaves, also in the national competition.
In the 7th minute of the match, Porto took advantage of a wrong ball from Sporting and opened the scoring in a 100% Brazilian move. Pepê received it and found Evanílson free inside the area to score.
In the 41st minute, Portuguese full-back Martim Fernandes made a great play and launched Pepê. From inside the area, the attacker kicked across the ball and extended Porto’s lead.
At the end of the match, with two goals from Gyokeres, Sporting managed to react. The first was a header, in the 42nd minute, after a cross from Nuno Santos. In the next minute, following a mistake by Porto, Edwards found the Swede free in the area to equalize.
