Stade Nyonnais – FC Thun: zero number against a “little one”

– Lost points again against a “little one”.

Almost six minutes of added time in the second half is running at the Center sportif de Colovray: Thun throws everything forward again, looking for and wanting the winning goal. But it remains 0-0, meaning the Bernese Oberlanders miss out on getting within one point of leader Sion.

Sion has an advantage

The gap to the Valais is three points with four games remaining. In theory, everything is still possible. And yet, in the fight for direct promotion, there is a lot to be said for last year’s relegated team, who also had a clearly better goal difference. Sion would have to make two mistakes to lose first place – and only if Thun wins the remaining games.

The two Challenge League dominators face a similarly difficult final program. The Sion team still face Wil (at home), Aarau, Bellinzona (both away) and Schaffhausen (at home). Thun travels to the practically relegated Baden next Friday, then welcomes Schaffhausen and Vaduz and plays in Wil in the last round.

It’s just too little

The Bernese Oberland lost 2:3 in the 15th round in Nyon after conceding two goals in the last seven minutes. It wasn’t the only annoying defeat against an opponent who was weaker on paper.

This time, head coach Mauro Lustrinelli’s team doesn’t lose, but two more unnecessary points are wasted. This in front of 1,050 spectators against an opponent who had only been able to win one game of the previous six home games with a goal difference of 2:12.

Dissatisfied: Miguel Castroman no longer understands the world.

In a nutshell: It’s simply not enough that FC Thun can offer – despite more possession of the ball and 14:5 shots on goal. The starting minutes are still promising. They have two opportunities to take the lead in the first 120 seconds. But that’s it in the first half. For the time being, the guests are no longer able to create any real danger from Nyon keeper Emir Omeragic.

It took until the 54th minute before Leandro Bertone was able to take a free kick, but Omeragic deflected the ball over the crossbar. Thun increases the pressure and creates scoring opportunities again. Nevertheless: A lot of things seem somehow helpless and haphazard.

Thun disappoints his followers

72 minutes pass before Lustrinelli makes the first changes. Marc Gutbub and Miguel Castroman come for Ihsan Sacko and Justin Roth. Five turns later, Nando Toggenburger and Roland Ndongo replaced Koro Koné and Bertone, who left injured. Hélios Sessolo (for Dos Santos) is also allowed to play (87th).

Substitute players have often made the difference this season. This time it doesn’t work. With the 0-0 draw, FC Thun once again disappointed its numerous supporters in an away game.

Only one can be happy: FC Sion. The fact that he only got one point in four games against Thun this season should ultimately be irrelevant. At least that’s what it seems.
