Strack-Zimmermann gets angry during the Ukraine debate: “Then they call Moscow” – Germany

The BSW boss again called for negotiations with Kremlin despot Vladimir Putin. Strack-Zimmermann, however, once again insisted on the delivery of German Taurus cruise missiles. This would also allow Ukraine to fight targets in the annexed Crimea.

Then the FDP woman became clear: “And now let’s get specific and now we really have to add butter to the fish. If Putin withdraws his Russian army today, the war will end immediately. If Ukraine does it, it’s out of the window. If it is gone, it has disappeared geographically. And then it is not the last war. I think we agree on that.”

Strack-Zimmermann to the BSW politician: “Butter to the fish! What do you want?”

Mohamed Ali then replied that Putin would not retreat. No matter how much you want it: “Sorry, but what am I supposed to do with it,” said the BSW politician. As Mohamed Ali is about to start a new sentence with “I want,” the FDP woman interrupts her: “Butter to the fish! What do you want? That Ukraine gives up its eastern part? That Crimea remains with Russia? Then call Moscow and not Kiev! “That’s when it happens,” grumbles Strack-Zimmermann.

Mohamed Ali at “maischberger”: “That’s dubious!”

The BSW chairwoman hisses back: “That’s dubious, Ms. Strack-Zimmermann. Those are always such pithy sayings, my goodness! But that’s not reality! I want people to stop dying every day in Ukraine. I want this to stop.” Moderator Maischberger then intervened and directed the conversation to the recently deceased Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny.

On Thursday, the Bundestag will vote on new arms deliveries

Strack-Zimmermann, the chairwoman of the Defense Committee, had previously declared that she would also vote for a Union resolution in the Bundestag on Thursday. In this, the CDU and CSU are calling for the much-discussed Taurus cruise missiles to be delivered to Ukraine. The traffic light coalition’s decision does not explicitly provide for this type of support. The FDP woman will therefore vote for both proposals.
