“submit or be destroyed”

President Gustavo Petro issued an ultimatum to the illegal Clan del Golfo: submit or be destroyed by the force of the State. The president’s statements come in the midst of the security crisis that these illegals have unleashed in the municipality of Segovia (Northeast of Antioquia), which has 800 civilians confined and has already left four soldiers dead.

The head of state stressed that these incidents are a reaction to the government’s fight against illicit activities such as illegal mining and drug trafficking. He added that they are indicative of the effectiveness of the measures taken by the government to dismantle these organizations.

“To that same extent, these groups are going to act against the Government and the population. It is the effect of effectiveness in the fight against the illicit economy by the Government,” said the head of state from Munich (Germany), where he participates in the Security Conference.

Likewise, the president issued a warning to this armed group that does not currently have any negotiations with the Government.

“We are going to respond. “If they are not able to dismantle their groups, as we have requested, they will simply be destroyed by the State,” the president said.
