Sunny Day Real Estate are. As we have already said, one of the most influential American alternative groups of its generation in the emo and indie rock scene, although its name has not been heard as much as that of other more popular artists. But they have fans around the world who will be happy to know that this Friday “Novum Vetus” will be released, an unreleased seven-minute song that the group has completed and that belongs to some recording sessions of the original formation from 1997 with Nate Mendel, and which was not included in “How It Feels To Be Something On”.
But there will be more. On the sidelines of an anniversary tour of the thirty years of “Diary” –with a sextet formation, with the original members Jeremy Enigk, Dan Hoerner and William Goldsmithbut without Nate Mendel– and a special edition of the album with a complete recording live-in-the-studio of all the songs on the album plus “Novum Vetus.” All of them were recorded in a session at London Bridge studios in Seattle.
On the other hand, Hoerner has commented in an interview that the band could also be working on new songs and that they have given new life and added changes to the songs included in “Diary”with songs like “In Circles”, “Seven”, “9” or “Round”.
As for the tour, at the moment only dates have been announced – from March to October – for the United States, with stops in cities such as Austin, Gainesville, Washington DC, New York, Boston, Denver, Seattle, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Los Angeles or San Francisco.
