A comparison with the other top earners at their respective positions shows that the quarterback is by far the most important player in today’s NFL. At the lower end of the scale are the running backs, where Nick Chubb from the Cleveland Browns is the top earner with $12.2 million. Particularly valuable are pass rushers, i.e. defenders who put pressure on the opposing quarterback, or offensive tackles, whose main task is to protect the QB.
