Two women in their 50s were killed in an attack in a high school in Malmö, Sweden, for which an 18-year-old student was arrested. According to the newspaper Aftonbladet, the young man allegedly used an ax and a knife and called the police himself after the attack. “I sat on the third floor and laid down my weapons. I killed two people,” the student would have said.
The alarm went off in the afternoon. There were at least 50 people in the school. Many fled in panic while others took refuge in the classrooms. The two women, both high school employees, were transported by ambulance to the hospital dying but died shortly after.
“It is with great sadness that we can say that two people lost their lives in this terrible event and our thoughts go out to their relatives and friends,” said Petra Stenkula, head of the Malmö police area, in a press release.
