Swiss Cup Men: Lugano’s third final in a row
FC Lugano is in the final of the Swiss Cup for the third time in a row and for the eleventh time overall. Mattia Croci-Torti’s team won the first semi-final away against Challenge League leaders FC Sion 2-0 in the sold-out Stade de Tourbillon.
The decisive goals came shortly before and after the break. The Frenchman Yanis Cimignani completed the last attack before the break with a fantastic volley – after an equally impressive assist from Can Zelar – making it 1-0. In the 51st minute, Celar used a foul penalty to make it 2-0. With the two goals, Lugano will play for the Cup trophy for the third time in a row under Croci-Torti. The “Bianconeri” won in 2022 and lost the final against BSC Young Boys in 2023.
FC Winterthur and Servette FC will meet in the second semi-final on Sunday from 4.30 p.m.
The final will take place on Sunday, June 2nd, at 2 p.m. in Wankdorf in Bern. Ticketing runs exclusively through the two finalist teams, not via the Swiss Football Association.
