Switzerland switched to summer time overnight from Saturday to Sunday – rts.ch

Switzerland switched to summer time overnight from Saturday to Sunday, during the Easter weekend. The night was an hour shorter, but the evenings will then benefit from longer daylight. Daylight saving time ends on October 27.

Sunday at 02:00, the watches were moved forward to 03:00. The time change for the summer season begins on the last Sunday in March and ends on the last Sunday in October.

The change takes place automatically for most station clocks, bell towers, schools or red lights. This is generally also the case for cell phones, computers and other connected devices.

This year, daylight saving time will last from March 31 to October 27. On this day, the clocks will be moved back from 03:00 to 02:00. Standard time will therefore apply again from this date.

The summer time system was introduced in Switzerland in 1981 to align with neighboring countries and against a backdrop of energy savings. This system is still not unanimous. For its detractors, it disrupts the biological clock of humans and animals.
