The derailment of a train inside a tunnel, which took place this morning in the eastern part of Taiwan, caused dozens of casualties and a few dozen injuries. “There are 36 people who show no signs of life,” the Central Emergency Operations Center said in a statement, adding that rescuers are working to reach four wagons inside the tunnel, which is badly damaged and difficult to access.

According to a first estimate, at least 60 seriously injured are transported to hospital and at least 72 people are still trapped in train carriages.
