The trespassing on the day in Rome when US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with Chinese Communist Party diplomacy chief Yang Jiechi
The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense denounced the incursion of 13 Chinese military fighters in its air identification zone with a post on its Twitter profile. This is the most important initiative conducted in the last month by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The raid took place on the day in Rome when US national security adviser Jake Sullivan met with Chinese Communist Party diplomacy chief Yang Jiechi for an interview that lasted over six hours. It is reasonable to think that the Taiwan dossier was among the topics covered by Sullivan and Yang, given that Beijing considers the island an integral part of its territory, to be brought back under its control sooner or later, even by force if necessary.
Sullivan and Yang last met for face-to-face talks some time ago in Switzerland, where the US councilor raised concerns from the Biden administration about Chinese military provocations against Taiwan, human rights abuses against ethnic minorities and efforts to stifle democracy advocates in Hong Kong.
