Paris St. Germain routinely made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. After a 2-0 win in the first leg, the French champions won the duel at Real Sociedad San Sebastian in Spain 2-1 (1-0) thanks to the outstanding double packer Kylian Mbappé. This is the eighth time that PSG has reached the quarter-finals of the premier class, having finished in the round of 16 in each of the last two seasons.

After Mbappe’s intention to move to Real Madrid became public a few weeks ago, the French striker’s playing times were recently severely limited. On Tuesday he was in the starting line-up and shot his team into the next round with his fifth and sixth goals in the current competition (15th, 56th). For San Sebastian, the dream of the first quarter-finals in the premier class was shattered. Mikel Merino’s goal (89′) came too late.
Superstar Mbappé once again made the difference and, like in the first leg, gave PSG the lead: The hosts started powerfully, then Mbappé started dribbling and flicked the ball into the far corner. Paris wanted to make everything clear early on, Mbappé’s second goal was initially prevented by the strong Alex Remiro in San Sebastian’s goal (29th).
There were no further highlights for a long time, Paris managed the result – until Mbappe was sent with a long ball by substitute Kang-in Lee and calmly made the decision.
