Karlsruher SC has made a real statement in the 2nd league. On matchday 26, coach Christian Eichner’s team beat 1. FC Magdeburg 7-0 (4-0). The mood after the game was accordingly.
It was the kind of game where everything worked for one team – and nothing at all for the other. The team that succeeded was Karlsruher SC. The Baden team overwhelmed 1. FC Magdeburg 7-0. The next KSC goal festival. Karlsruhe had already converted its offensive power into goals on the 19th (4:3 in Hamburg), on the 23rd (4:0 at FCK) and on the 24th matchday (4:0 against Fürth), now seven against the FCM . Christian Eichner: KSC achieved two goals against Magdeburg
Coach Eichner was understandably very happy after the game. “We had two big goals. We didn’t want to let Magdeburg get into the game. And we wanted to play to our strengths, for example in possession of the ball. That worked,” the 41-year-old analyzed after the game. “Things didn’t go well for us either, for example in the passing game, but I saw greedy players who finished the actions without any frills. We scored the goals at the right time and deserved to win. That’s how it was, how I imagine it.”
This was also reflected in the statistics. 7:0 goals, 25:8 shots on goal, ran over ten kilometers more than Magdeburg – despite only 40 percent possession of the ball. Eichner had obviously given his team the right match plan.
“The 7-0 doesn’t really matter that much to me”
Nevertheless, the coach tried to stay grounded. “The 7-0 doesn’t really matter that much to me. What’s important are the three points and the fact that we now have 38 points,” said Eichner. “The 7-0 is more of an issue for journalists. I’ve experienced too much myself, both good and bad.”

One thing is clear: KSC is on a roll and is now second in the second half of the season. The gap to third place in relegation is six points. Is there still something going towards the top ranks? Eichner kept a low profile here. He doesn’t want to look up. Instead, he said, “My rearview mirror is always cleaned.”
