Graz/Vienna (April 4, 2024).- The 25th Styrian Spring was ceremonially opened today (April 4, 2024) in Vienna with a great crowd and a lot of anticipation. Since 1996, the Styrian Spring has been a fixture in the event calendar in the federal capital and attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Vienna’s Rathausplatz every year. From April 4th to 7th, everything in Vienna revolves around the Green Heart and the special features that our state has to offer: culinary delights, coziness, music and pure Styrian joie de vivre.

The 25th Styria Spring was opened by the state governor Christopher Drexler together with the mayor of Vienna Michael LudwigFederal Minister Martin PolaschekState Secretary for Tourism Susanne Kraus WinklerDeputy Governor Anton LangState Councilor for Economic Affairs and Tourism Barbara Eibinger-Miedl and STG managing director Michael Holiday – ceremoniously framed by the Laßnitzhöhe traditional band and the Passail market music.

“At the Styria Spring in Vienna we proudly show the many special features of our federal state. When the green heart conquers the town hall square, the entire federal capital feels the Styrian way of life and hospitality. We look forward to presenting the concentrated load of Styria to the Viennese and all our guests,” said Governor Christopher Drexler, who added: “You can’t miss Styria in Vienna either – we Styrians know how to make sure of that on a regular basis . For over a quarter of a century also with our unique Styrian spring.”

Mayor and Governor Michael Ludwig: “This is already the 25th time that Styria is visiting Vienna – a pleasant opportunity to celebrate the close ties between the two federal states. For four days, visitors to Vienna’s Rathausplatz have the opportunity to enjoy Styrian joie de vivre, cultural tradition and culinary delicacies. I wish everyone a wonderful time in one of the most beautiful squares in Vienna.”

“At the 25th edition of the Styrian Spring, we will also show the thousands of visitors how beautiful it is here in the Green Heart of Austria. Exhibitors from all over Styria will carry on our Styrian culture and cuisine, but also our Styrian attitude to life. There are so many beautiful corners in our state and I am very pleased that they are all being presented as part of this traditional festival. No matter whether it is my home, Upper Styria, or all the other diverse regions – a visit to the Styrian Spring is definitely worth it,” says Deputy Governor. Anton Lang.

State Councilor Barbara Eibinger-Miedl: “In the next four days, the Styrian attitude to life will once again be noticeable at Vienna’s Rathausplatz. Around 1,700 tourism experts from all eleven adventure regions will present the entire diversity of Styria and thus whet the appetite for a holiday in the Green Heart of Austria.”

“The place looks spectacularly beautiful. I’m really proud that we’ve managed to bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary so well, especially at this anniversary festival appearance. I would like to thank all our partners for this. So nothing stands in the way of four days of Styrian lifestyle – with the recipe for success: culinary delights and holiday anticipation,” explains Michael Holiday, Managing Director of Styrian Tourism and Location Marketing GmbH.

Over four days and with around 45 hours of program, numerous Styrian exhibitors from all 11 adventure regions of the country will present themselves and show Styria in all its diversity, from crafts to gastronomy to regional customs. This year, around 1,700 Styrians are taking part in the largest federal state event in the federal capital, organized by Styrian Tourism and Location Marketing GmbH, and are demonstrating Styrian hospitality.
