The record company Warner Music confirms the death opposite VG. The artist passed away on Saturday.
– We can confirm that Kristoffer Castin Åman (Dutty Dior) has passed away. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones, writes managing director Leif O. Ribe in Warner Music in a text message to the newspaper.
Åman was one of Norway’s biggest rappers, and was scheduled to play at the hip-hop festival Kadetten this summer. He had his big breakthrough together with the artist Isah in 2019 with the single “Hallo”.
The song won the P3 Gold Prize “Song of the Year” in the same year, and was also nominated for the same category under the Spellemann Prize. “Hallo” became one of the biggest Norwegian and Norwegian-language hits in recent times, with over 33 million plays on the streaming service Spotify.
Since then, Åman has collaborated with a number of other great Norwegian artists, including Karpe, Stig Brenner, Arif and Nils Bech. Last year he released his third album “It’s less lonely alone”.
– Dutty was a completely unique artist – an outstanding songwriter, extremely musical and with an almost unearthly charisma of his own both in the room and on stage, says artist manager and DJ Silje Borgan in an SMS to The daily newspaper.
