Managing director of Warner Music Leif O. Ribe confirms to NRK that Kristoffer Castin Åman, known under the stage name Dutty Dior, has died.
Now more people are remembering the rapper on social media.
The artist David Mokel writes “Rest in peace. Thank you so much for the art you made” on his Instagram.
Isah and Dutty Dior were guests in the NRK program “Kulturstripa” on 6 March 2020.
Dutty Dior had their big breakthrough together with Isah with the single “Hallo” in 2019. They won the “Song of the Year” category at P3 Gold the same year.
The song was also nominated for the same category under the Spellemannprisen.
It became one of the biggest Norwegian and Norwegian-language hits in recent times, with over 33 million plays on the streaming service Spotify.
Since then, the rapper has released a number of songs. In 2021, Åman Spellemann was nominated in the “Hiphop” category.

Music director at NRK Mats Borch Bugge sends his thoughts to those closest to him. He describes Åman as a unique rapper in the Norwegian context.
– He was a laid-back person. Very playful with the genre, and with a strong presence on stage. He was also an emotional rapper, I would say, which has meant a lot to many.
The rapper has collaborated with a number of well-known Norwegian artists such as Karpe, Arif, Nils Bech and Stig Brenner. Bugge says Åman had a weight and credibility in his music, which made people want to work with him.
– Dutty Dior was probably one that was experienced as unique. He was a fearless type who had an expression that not many people have used in Norway.

The artist occasionally crossed over to the more rock-oriented, according to Bugge.
– He will be remembered as a unique voice. The sound of his voice. A fearless person who crossed over both aesthetically and sonically. And then there is probably the song ‘Kald Djevel’ which I think will remain as the foremost proof of the power Dutty Dior had.
– Dutty Dior leaves behind a legacy that I am absolutely certain that many will work hard to be able to continue.
Åman was to play at the hip-hop festival Kadetten in Sandvika this summer.
