The “Ukrainization” of the theater of the city near the Russian border still under bombing – by LORENZO CREMONESI, CORRESPONDENT / CorriereTv
Interview with Oksana Dmitrieva, artistic director and puppet creator of the State Academic Puppet Theater of Kharkiv: «Before February 24, 2022, performances in Russian were held in this theater. After the invasion they were erased. Now here they do plays in Ukrainian, there are many Ukrainian playwrights. Some of the plays we do now were written after the start of this war and we are also staging works by European authors. This is the position of the Ukrainian theater now. In this city very close to Russia culturally and traditionally there is a sort of “Europeanization” or even better “Ukrainization””.
