Koblenz. (edi) With Thomas Anders, the city of Koblenz has completed the list of culture prize winners for 2023.

At an entertaining ceremony this Sunday morning, Mayor David Langner presented the culture prize to Germany’s most famous musician, songwriter and television presenter, who has called Koblenz his home for 30 years. Bernd Weidung alias Thomas Anders was born in Münstermaifeld and grew up in the small Maifeld community of Mörz, where he also gained his first musical experiences.

He started his unique musical success story with Modern Talking in 1984 alongside Dieter Bohlen. “You’re my heart, you’re my soul” was number 1 on the sales charts in 81 countries. He sold over 125 million CDs worldwide with Modern Talking and solo titles. For his artistic work he has received over 420 gold and platinum records and CDs and numerous awards, including the “Bambi”, the “Golden Europe”, the “Golden Camera”, the “ECHO”, the “World Music Award”, the gold and silver “Bravo-Otto” and the “Golden Lion” from Radio Luxembourg.
