BRUSSELS. The services of the European Commission have sent two administrative letters to Poland and Hungary “to request information” on the situation of the rule of law, “which could be relevant for the application of the general conditionality regime” for the disbursement of EU funds. This was announced by a spokesman for the community executive. “The information requested will feed into the Commission’s assessment of compliance with the conditions for sending a notification to Member States under the cross-compliance regime,” explained the spokesperson. Warsaw and Budapest now have two months to submit the requested information.
