World trip planned: Lucy asks herself “Is this our life now” and emigrates with her family
The Richardson family was fed up with their life in Britain. She has now been living in Bali for a few months – and despite some difficulties, she doesn’t regret the decision.
Lucy and her husband Paul Richardson have completely changed their lives. Because they moved from Great Britain to Bali with their children – and have many more trips ahead of them. But life abroad is not entirely without problems, as the “Mirror” reported.
“I guess the catalyst for it was that we woke up in the UK and had the house, the car, the business and the kids, and then we asked ourselves ‘is this our life now?'” explains Lucy Step. They felt trapped in this cycle. She also says that the British education system was not for them.
Her house in Cambridge is now an Airbnb
According to the Mirror, the couple spent a year planning. They now rent out their house in Cambridge on Airbnb. Last December we went to Bali. The couple’s three children – Amaya (5), Roo (4) and Lela (1) – are said to love their new life, the article says.
But not everything goes smoothly: a family member falls ill with the “Bali Belly” at least once a week. Still, living abroad has many advantages: “We’ve always tried to find ways to entertain the children in the UK. We felt like we were drowning and now we can give that time to our children and invest in them,” says Lucy according to the Mirror.
Emigration also had financial advantages for the family. “Our cost of living in Bali is a quarter of what it was in the UK,” the mother is quoted as saying. They make their living from multiple sources: Paul has learned to trade stocks online, and Lucy makes money from her TikTok account and receives income from her beauty salon in the UK.
But Bali shouldn’t be your last stop. You want to travel the world as long as you can. According to the article, in three months they will go to Dubai, then to America and next year they want to travel through Europe. For others, Lucy recommends: “I would tell other families who are thinking about taking this step that they should 100 percent go for it.”
