The 420 participants accessed training on various subjects of interest such as sign language or intervention in cases of gender violence.

The agents of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife received 12 courses in 2023. These trainings, offered by the Local Security Academy of the capital’s Local Police, were spread over 18 editions attended by a total of 420 students and students on a voluntary basis with the purpose of being able to increase and update their knowledge in various subjects that promote the improvement of their police work.

The Councilor for Citizen Security and Emergencies of the capital city council, Gladis de León, recalled the importance of “the ongoing training in multiple subjects that local police officers need, whether due to regulatory changes; updating knowledge or deepening the knowledge of the peculiarities of specific areas of the municipality”, for which she assured that “having the quality training offer that is provided and organized from our local academy is a luxury for Santa Cruz; Furthermore, our intention is to continue investing in expanding its courses and activities.”

Within the list, training strictly related to police activity was offered, such as the Police Intervention course or the Crime of Usurpation. But the opportunity to learn other subjects important for health and foresight was also provided, such as in the Stress Management and Motivation course; that of Comprehensive Intervention in Matters of Gender Violence, or that of Prevention of Infectious Contagious Diseases. In addition, teachings were offered that help cover social and cultural needs such as police interventions in the Anaga Rural Park or the sign language course.

On the other hand, the Local Security Academy of the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife offered the Basic Training and Operation Course for police work with dogs, which is aimed at the Group of Canine Guides of the Capital’s Local Police. This learning opportunity, together with the continuous training they receive in collaboration with the National Police Corps, and the training offer of the General Directorate of Studies, Training and Research in Public Security, help these agents have the possibility of improving their knowledge. in this specialty.
