An earthquake rocked Garut Regency. The vibrations caused by this earthquake were felt quite strongly by the community.

The earthquake occurred on Saturday (27/4/2024) evening. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) noted that the earthquake occurred at 23.29 WIB.

“Mag: 6.5, 27-Apr-24 23:29:47 IWST,” BMKG was quoted as saying detikjabar from their official X account, Saturday night, at 23.40 WIB.

The earthquake is known to have a magnitude of M 6.5. The earthquake was centered in the ocean, 151 km southwest of Garut Regency, at a depth of 10 kilometers to be precise.

“There is no potential for a tsunami,” wrote BMKG.

The people felt the earthquake felt quite strong. Not only in urban Garut, the earthquake was also felt in Sukabumi, Cianjur and Majalengka.
