The popular masterpiece manga “Blue Period”, which has a cumulative circulation of over 7 million copies, will be made into a live-action movie starring Atsushi Maeda Go. Recently, the trailer and teaser visual for the movie “Blue Period” have been released.

This work is the story of a high school student who was once an empty-nester and takes a serious challenge in the world of art after a single painting, and struggles to get into one of the most prestigious art universities in Japan.

Atsushi Maeda will play the main character of the story, Yaguchi Yatora, a high school student who is popular with those around him and has excellent grades, but who feels unsatisfied with his daily life of reading the atmosphere. Fumiya Takahashi plays Ryuji Ayukawa, also known as Yuka-chan, a classmate of Yatora’s feminine appearance who is conflicted about what he likes and who is the person who inspired Yatora to enter the art club. Rimitsu Itagaki plays Setasuke Takahashi, Yatora’s biggest rival and a genius high school student with amazing drawing skills. Hiyori Sakurada plays Morimaru, a senior in the art club who gives Yatora a chance to overcome every time he encounters hardships.

Director Kentaro Hagiwara, known for “30 Minutes to Goodbye” and “Tokyo Ghoul,” will be in charge of the megaphone. Before filming, the cast members sometimes spend more than half a year practicing painting, mastering the gestures and movements involved in painting. Furthermore, some of the paintings that appear in the movie were actually drawn by the cast. The script was written by Reiko Yoshida, who worked on the anime “Blue Period” and is also in charge of “Violet Evergarden the Movie” and “Dead Dead Demons Dedededede Destruction” currently in theaters. The music will be handled by Yaffle, who has worked on soundtracks for films such as “Character” and “Narratage,” and was nominated for the Annie Award for Best Music for “Poupelle.”
