British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who played John Lennon in Nowhere Boyis in talks to be the next James Bond in the film saga about the fictional spy 007, reports this Tuesday The Sun.

The newspaper says that Eon Productions, which has produced most of the films about the secret agent created by writer Ian Fleming in 1952, offered him the role to replace Daniel Craig, who left him in 2021 with No time to dieafter performing it since 2005.

The Sun notes that Taylor-Johnson, also known for Kick-Ass: Ready to smashsign the contract in the coming days, which would officially make him the eighth James Bond.

A source told the newspaper that “Bond is a job for Aaron, should he want to take it.”

“The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting for him to respond,” said this source, who added that Eon is confident that he will sign shortly to prepare the announcement.

The newspaper says that, according to these people familiar with the situation, a script is being worked on for an upcoming film to be shot at Pinewood Studios in the English county of Buckinghamshire.

Aaron, married to director Sam Taylor-Wood – they both currently have the last name Taylor-Johnson – was competing for the role with candidates such as Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and James Norton, according to the newspaper.

The 33-year-old actor said last week, when the magazine Number asked him about his interest in Bond: “I find it charming and wonderful that people see me in that role. I take it as a great compliment.”
