It is not clear whether her master’s degree will be cancelled, ten years after she submitted it to the university.
– I await the results of the University of Tromsø’s review of my master’s thesis before I make further comments, writes Borch in an SMS to in Tromsø.
Borch resigned as minister of research and higher education on 19 January after it was revealed that her own master’s thesis contained texts from other people’s assignments. Borch called a press conference where she admitted wrongdoing and announced her resignation.
21.9 percent of the text was copied from sources that were not credited, according to NRK.
The thesis was written while Borch, according to herself, had a busy everyday life as head of the Center for Youth. She denies that she has deliberately cheated.
Subsequently, Borch also gained access to the censorship from the University of Tromsø, where it is stated that the plagiarism was already revealed in 2014 when the thesis was submitted. Borch received the grade D on his master’s thesis.
The final verdict from UiT is expected to come in mid-March.
