In the 1970s, Thea Gottschalk, née Hauer, met presenter Thomas Gottschalk. The couple married in 1976 and had their first son, Roman Gottschalk, in 1982. In 1989 the two adopted a second son, Tristan Gottschalk. After the couple’s separation became public in 2019, Thomas Gottschalk often appeared with his new partner Karina Mroß, while Thea Gottschalk withdrew from the public. Now the 78-year-old shared a rare photo with her two sons – and also said a few words about her marriage.
Thea Gottschalk posted a photo on her Instagram account in which she can be seen with Tristan and Roman Gottschalk. The two men wear elegant suits, she wears an embroidered evening dress and stands in the middle while her two sons hold her lovingly in their arms. Tristan Gottschalk smiles relaxed, Roman Gottschalk gives his mother a kiss on the cheek. “My two favorite men,” writes Thea Gottschalk about the picture with her children.
There were a few compliments in the comments section of the post. “Wonderful,” one fan wrote. “What a beautiful photo,” someone praised. Another commenter took the opportunity to express her thoughts on the failed marriage to Thomas Gottschalk. “Enjoy the time with your children and grandchildren. Somehow it goes on and on. Even after the separation from a man who you have had your back for decades. I still don’t understand it to this day,” wrote the follower.
Thea Gottschalk probably didn’t miss the opportunity to take a little swipe at her ex-husband and reacted briefly and succinctly: “I still don’t understand it either.”
Thea kept Thomas Gottschalk’s back free
When Thea and Thomas Gottschalk met, the talk show host was just beginning his career. She gave up her job as a commercial artist to support her husband – and became his manager. “If Thea hadn’t had the children, house and farm under control, I wouldn’t have been able to travel around the country whistling happily,” the now 73-year-old wrote in his autobiography “Autumn Blond” in 2016.
Thea and Thomas Gottschalk made their separation, which was said to have been a while ago, public three years later in March 2019 after 42 years of marriage. Shortly afterwards, the talk show host introduced the new woman at his side, Karina Mroß, who was twelve years his junior.
