REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG — A number of locations in the Semarang City area, Central Java, are still flooded. Based on a report from the Semarang City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), flooding on the sixth day is still being observed in the Genuksari and Trimulyo sub-districts, Genuk sub-district, as well as on the Kaligawe highway.

Update Recently, the impact of flooding at several points has begun to recede from inundation. “Except for the Genuk District area, there are still those in Genuksari and Trimulyo Villages,” said Head of Semarang City BPBD Endro P Martanto, Tuesday (19/3/2024).

According to Endro, the height of the flood inundation in the Trimulyo area is still around 40 centimeters-60 centimeters. “In Genuksari, on Jalan Dong Biru, the depth is around 30 centimeters,” he said.

Floods are also still inundating the Kaligawe highway, around the Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital (RSI). However, Endro said, the road on the north coast route (Pantura) was starting to be passable by vehicles.

“Traffic flow from the west is still relatively disrupted. “Meanwhile, on the other hand, or from the direction of Demak, it has been relatively smooth because the puddles are not that deep,” said Endro.

Endro said that efforts to deal with floods were continuing. These include maximizing pumps belonging to the Pemali Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) and the Semarang City Public Works Department (DPU).

Pumps belonging to the Semarang City BPBD are also on standby, especially in locations where there are still floodwaters. According to Endro, not only large capacity pumps are deployed, but also small ones. “We are maximizing the shift of portable pumps,” he said.
