The athlete defeated the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipasnumber 7 in the world, in the second round of Madrid Masters 1000 with a double 6-4.

In the third round, Monteiro will face the winner of the match between Czech Jiri Lehecka and Serbian Hamad Medjedovic.
Monteiro, with a solid game, closed the match in just over an hour and a half.
The Brazilian broke the Greek’s serve in the third game of the first set and at the beginning of the second half. Tsitsipas still saved three match points, but Monteiro managed to confirm the serve in the 10th game of the second set and closed the match.
Tsitsipas arrived in the Spanish capital in great shape, after winning the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo and finishing second in the ATP 500 in Barcelona.
