Within the framework of the celebration of International Women’s Day, the Alliance Française of Lima organizes for the third consecutive year, the Flor que ladra cycle, a varied program that offers a space to learn about various proposals, whether artistic, design, gastronomy , cinema, literature, social sciences, sports and others, created by women and in some cases, for women.

The illustrator Issa Watanabe, the art curator Luisa Fernanda Lindo, the writer Sophie Canal, the group of women composers RETAMA, the ceramist Lala Rebaza, among other women artists participate in this Cycle Flor que ladra. The activities will take place from March 6 to 9 in person and with free admission.

On Wednesday, March 6, the Conversation takes place: Feminisms revolutionizing our territories. This conversation is part of the Mobilize, articulate and participate project, which is promoted by two national organizations, Demus and Aprodeh, with the intention of preventing gender violence and strengthening feminist activism in various territories of Peru.

On Thursday, March 7, a poetry recital will be held with the participation of different contemporary Peruvian poets: Diana Moncada, María Belén Milla Altabás, Paula Bruce Rheineck, Marina Irkalla, Carolina O. Fernández, Valeria Román Marroquín, Violeta Barrientos and Virginia Benavides. As an intermission of this recital in two readings, the Peruvian writers: Juliane Ángeles, Sandra Suazo, Wendy Yashira, will discuss how they have created their editorial spaces and the initiatives to disseminate writings made by women, how the exchanges between these spaces occur. , as well as the opportunities and challenges for its continuity.

On Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9, the Femme Cinéma Film Series will be held, made up of a selection of short and feature films made by women and about women in France and Peru, which highlight different sensitivities and problems, both from cinematographic perspective, such as the stories that narrate and portray various profiles of women in our country and in France. This cycle is carried out thanks to the joint action of the Alliance Française, the French Institute, Grupo Chaski and the Retama collective of composers. Additionally, on Friday the 8th, after the screenings, a discussion will be held with Alejandro Legaspi and María Elena Benites, members of the Chaski Group.

On Saturday, March 9, the women entrepreneurs fair will be held from 10 am to 8 pm, showcasing the work of women entrepreneurs. There will be various products such as ceramics, books, organic products, natural cosmetics, among others. Likewise, there will be spaces for disseminating the defense of women’s rights and ruling out breast cancer. In addition, the presentation of the Contemporáneas web platform, by Luisa Fernanda Lindo and the Contemporáneas team.

During the afternoon there will be self-defense workshops for girls, adolescents and women taught by Mayela Cano, a drawing workshop “Saying from Silence” with Issa Watanabe, presentation of the book Esclavas by Sophie Canal and film screenings. Admission will be free with limited capacity.
