Information about the cast, pictures from the set and details about the musical design have already been published in the past for the “Joker” sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux”. Now there is the first trailer for the film, in which the focus is clearly on Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix in the two main roles.
A messy relationship
The trailer shows the first meeting of Arthur Fleck and Harley Quinn in the mental institution where Phoenix’s character ended up in the first film. The developing relationship between the two is depicted in various situations, from stage appearances to dancing together in the rain to a visit to prison.
The clip begins with actor Steve Coogan’s voiceover: “We use music to make ourselves whole, to make up for the fractures within ourselves.” Hal David and Burt Bacharach’s song “What The World Needs Now” plays in the background Is Love” from 1965, which accompanies the chaotic images. However, you can’t hear Phoenix and Gaga singing together yet.

“Joker 2: Folie à Deux” will be released in German cinemas on October 3rd. What is known so far about the plot is that Arthur “Joker” Fleck meets the psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel. Through this encounter and the Joker’s influence, she eventually becomes Harley Quinn. The sequel is being implemented in the same way as the first “Joker” by director Todd Phillips, but this time as a musical.
The title of the film, “Folie à deux”, translates as “madness for two” and is an expression of a psychotic disorder in which close people develop common, delusional ideas.
