In Manor Lords you build your own medieval settlement, raise armies and conquer territories. So that your citizens stay happy and you can get the most out of their services, our guide explains what you should pay attention to, especially at the beginning of your game:

First needs of your residents
The families under your command want firewood, water and food – that’s enough for them at the start of your game. So make sure you put a fountain within easy reach for them.
Also plan a little further: Wells can normally only be built on groundwater. A blacksmith who has to walk 500 meters to the well creates a shortage of his goods.
Later you will need a marketplace and this will also be served. The market square should only be surrounded by residential buildings, because if the families live too far away from the market square, then this need will not be met well.
So definitely avoid building the marketplace next to production or logistics buildings.
An early tannery can also meet early clothing needs.
Jobs in different seasons
Not only does winter mean that your firewood supplies run out twice as quickly, but it also means that some professions simply have no work during the cold season.
Foresters, wild berry pickers and farmers should be assigned to other businesses in winter. For example, you can refine raw materials collected over the warm months in the winter and turn the farmers and foresters into bakers, clay distillers and sawmill workers over the winter.
Farmers can only work effectively in autumn.
The wild berries should be collected diligently from March.
Remember that farmers have to harvest, plow and sow all the fields from September to the end of November so that growth can begin immediately in March of the following year. So your farmhouses should be full from October onwards in the first year and from September onwards in the second year.
Tips for dealers
Trade is incredibly important in Manor Lords. In order to meet the needs of your growing village, you will have to rely on trade, especially in the middle part of your game round.
So be sure to produce excess stock wherever you can and sell it to the dealer. For example, it is advisable to develop the first level 2 farms into carpenters in order to produce wooden shields and bows, as these are made from the renewable raw material wood and guarantee a good initial income as a trading commodity.
You can also set in your warehouses which goods are not stored there in order to keep the production routes as short as possible.
In order to optimize the processes of your craftsmen, we optimize logistics via the warehouses.
This also helps your craftsmen’s families to work more effectively, as poorly thought-out logistics can cause problems for the craftsmen’s families.
Wood should only be stored in the warehouse near your wood processing facility. And only in the food store near your bakers flour. Then the warehouse porters do the legwork and not your craftsmen, especially since the porters can carry ten times as much as a normal worker.
