0-1 defeat | April 1, 2024
The people of Thun have to travel back from the country without points. The Liechtensteiners win thanks to an early penalty goal. The direct ascent is therefore becoming more distant.

FC Thun has been tied back in the fight for direct promotion from the Challenge League. The Bernese Oberland lost 0-1 in the 27th round in Vaduz. Fabrizio Cavegn scored a hand penalty in the fifth minute for the home team, who improved to seventh place with the win at the expense of Bellinzona. As FC Thun writes in its match report, the longer the first half lasted, the less purposeful both teams acted. The home team went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Even in the second half of the game, both sides were rarely able to create dangerous chances. After Wieser from FC Vaduz was sent off, the Thun team finally managed to put a little more pressure on the opponent’s goal – nothing countable came of it. FC Thun Berner Oberland had to admit defeat at the Rheinpark Stadium and return home without any points.
For Thun, who played in the majority in the last quarter of an hour after a yellow-red card against Sandro Wieser, it was only the second defeat since December after seven wins from eleven games. Leader Sion leads the table by five points after three quarters of the season.
