Last season, a defeat at Man City spelled the beginning of the end for Arsenal’s title dreams. Is history repeating itself?

It was the 33rd matchday on April 26, 2023, when Arsenal traveled to the Etihad Stadium in Manchester as league leaders for the top game. After three draws in a row, the Gunners’ self-confidence was no longer the best.
The lead over ManCity had shrunk from 8 points to a measly point. After a 1:4, the Londoners had to cede the top position to their opponents and would not be able to regain it until the end of the season. The dream of the first championship title since 2004 was shattered – once again.
Liverpool as a beneficiary?
This year the top battle will take place on the 30th matchday with an almost similar starting point. Arsenal are once again 1 point ahead and have to play away to Manuel Akanji and Co. on Sunday. This will probably bring back memories.
In contrast to last year, Liverpool (equal on points with Arsenal at the top) and not ManCity could be the first beneficiary of a loss of points by the Londoners. The “Reds” host Brighton on Sunday.
