Turkey, the court confirms the detention of Osman Kavala

The fifth hearing of the trial for the Gezi Park protests ended with a stalemate, a court in Istanbul confirmed the detention of the philanthropists Osman Kavala, in prison for 1,604 days. Kavala, 64, is accused of attempting to subvert the constitutional order for the clashes that took place at the Gezi Park in Istanbul in 2013 and faces life imprisonment.
