In a game valid for the 5th round of the Copa do Nordeste, Vitória took advantage of the expulsions and beat Itabaiana 3-1, at Barradão.
Vitória started the game with more possession, but without being able to transform the volume into scoring chances. Unable to get close to the Itabaiana area, the solution was to finish from outside the area. Zeca and Rodrigo Andrade, twice, put goalkeeper Jefferson to work.

Tremendão managed to produce little in the game and the situation seemed to get worse after 32 minutes, when Kauan was sent off for a foul on Osvaldo. But it was with one less that the Sergipe team reached the goal. At 35, Mateus kicks across and Muriel rebounds at the feet of Tiago Souza, who passes it aside for Cleiton to open the score.
Behind the score and with one more, Leão looked for a draw in the first half, but stopped at Jefferson, Itabaiana’s highlight in the match. At 50, Dudu finished from outside the area in the corner and the goalkeeper made a save to avoid a draw.
The second half was full of pressure from Vitória, which crushed the Sergipe team. However, Jefferson’s star continued to shine, stopping Iury Castilho and Osvaldo’s shots. When Itabaiana’s goalkeeper was finally beaten by Matheuzinho’s shot, in the 19th minute, the post saved Tremendão.
Completely cornered, Itabaiana could not withstand the Red and Black pressure. At 28, Zé Hugo took advantage of the free kick from Matheuzinho to tie the match. The crucial move came in the 33rd minute, when defender Rony Fernandes brought down Alerrandro and was sent off for a second yellow card. From the kick, Camutanga hit beautifully and turned the match around for Rubro-negro.
With the game under control, Vitória slowed down and still managed to score the third goal. At 40, the ball was passed into the area for Iury Castilho, who beat the marking and gave the final score to the match.
Now Vitória is fourth in Group A with eight points, the same number as CRB (5th) and Maranhão (6th), but could be overtaken by Botafogo-PB who play this Thursday (7) against Fortaleza, in Almeidão. Itabaiana is at the bottom of Group B with three points, but is two away from the classification zone for the next phase – Náutico (4th) with five points.
