[China News Agency]London news: On July 5, local time, British Health Minister Javid and Chancellor of the Exchequer Sunak resigned one after another, saying they had lost confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Johnson.
Javid wrote in his resignation letter that the Conservative Party is currently neither a rational decision-maker nor capable of acting in the national interest in the public eye, and this situation will not change under the leadership of Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Sunak said the public expects the government to work “properly, competently and seriously”. “I think these standards are worth defending, and that’s why I resign.”
British media commented that the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Minister of Health are important officials of the British government, and the resignation of Javid and Sunak has caused a blow to the Johnson government.
At present, Johnson has appointed Barclay, the Duke of Lancaster’s county minister and minister of the Cabinet Office, as health secretary, and education minister Zahavi as finance minister.
According to the Associated Press, the resignation of the two ministers may have caused Johnson to lose confidence in Johnson’s government because of his repeated rhetoric in dealing with the misconduct scandal of the Conservative Party deputy whip Ping Che. Pincher resigned at the end of June after being exposed for misconduct, and more misconduct has been exposed since then, raising questions about whether Johnson was aware of Pincher’s character issues and still questioned his appointment. On the afternoon of July 5, local time, Johnson apologized for appointing Pincher as deputy whip.
