Protests against the war in Ukraine have taken place since the afternoon today in 51 cities of the country, which have resulted in the arrest of 1,400 people. It was since the return and subsequent arrest of Alexei Navalny in Russia in January of last year that there have not been such widespread protests throughout the country. The arrest of thousands of people at the time, as well as the launch of judicial proceedings against the activists and the inclusion of various organizations in the list of extremist and terrorist NGOs, had forced the organizers of the demonstrations to demand an end to the protests.
