On May 6, López Obrador assured that the level of violence has not increased in Mexico, but he acknowledged that there are more homicides. In this regard, he pointed out that past administrations were responsible for the problem.

“Where it has cost us the most is in homicides because gangs were created. And when do you think the gangs we still face were created? During the neoliberal or neo-Porfirist period, the most famous bands, I am not talking about the musical bands,” he declared.
