US Condemns Russia’s Bombing of Ukraine’s Energy Systems
KYIV, March 30.- The spokesperson for the United States National Security Council (NSC), Adrienne Watson, has denounced Russia’s recent bombings against Ukraine’s energy systems and infrastructure, reiterating her commitment to Ukrainian security and defense.

“Overnight, Russia has launched one of its largest airstrikes against Ukraine’s energy grid since the war began, depriving many people across the country of heat, water and electricity in the still cold days of early of spring,” the White House lamented in a statement.

Watson has defined this attack on Ukraine’s “citrus infrastructure” as “a terrible reminder of (Russian President) Vladimir Putin’s efforts to break the spirit of the Ukrainian people and plunge them into darkness.”

In this regard, the NSC spokesperson has defended the need to approve in the US House of Representatives a “complementary bipartisan National Security bill to send Ukraine more air defenses” with which “to help it protect itself against these attacks in progress.”

“Ukraine’s need is urgent and we cannot afford any further delays,” Watson said.

These statements by the US Government come after the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced this Friday that Russia’s objective with its latest attacks against several hydroelectric plants is to repeat an “ecological disaster” like the one in Kherson, in reference to the attack in June 2023 on the Kakhovka facilities.

The New Kakhovka power plant dam, about 60 kilometers from the city of Kherson, was hit by a missile at the beginning of June 2023, causing a tremendous flood of hundreds of square kilometers, as well as more than fifty deaths and damage estimated at more than 3,500 million euros.
