Nikki Haley has decided to give up her US presidential campaign. The move puts an end to the only Republican candidacy for the White House that seemed capable of competing with that of Donald Trump, but which nevertheless ended up succumbing to the former president on “Super Tuesday”.
The speech with which Nikki Haley, as anticipated, will announce that she is withdrawing from the presidential race has been announced for today at 10am, 4pm in Italy. The former UN ambassador will speak from Charleston, in South Carolina which she governed between 2010 and 2017 and where in recent weeks she suffered one of the many defeats inflicted on her Donald Trump. Haley is the latest in a large group of candidates, among which Ron De Santis, the governor of Florida who was considered one of the favorites for months, who withdrew faced with the inevitability of the former president’s new nomination.
According to what we learn, however, Haley will not announce her support for Donald Trump for now: sources close to the candidate have told CNN. The former ambassador will ask Trump to earn the support of voters who supported her.
