An eight-year-old African-American boy died after he and his father, while traveling by car in South Carolina, were hit by random bullets fired by a white man, which triggered a chilling target practice on passing cars. It happened near Florence.
Police found Quarius Naqua Dunham and her father injured. Both were rushed to hospital. The child didn’t make it. The father, who was driving, was shot in the left leg, but his injuries are not serious. The killer was identified and arrested: his name is Charles Montgomery Allen, he is 40 years old, he is from Florence, and is known by the police for having had, in the past, problems with drugs.
According to investigators, the child was the victim of Allen’s madness, who began randomly shooting at passing cars. Quarius was a brilliant third grade alumnus at Little Harbor School in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was going on vacation with his father. The mayor of the city, Deaglan McEachern, commented: “There are no words to express the shock and sadness with which we receive this terrible news. Just last week we had gathered in a prayer vigil for the nineteen children who had seen their lives broken in Texas. We tried to imagine how those parents would feel. Now darkness has fallen over Portsmouth. ‘
