Three people were killed and 11 others injured in a street shooting in Philadelphia. The police reported it. It happened in the area near the intersection of Third Street and South Street. “We know that fourteen people were shot and taken to hospitals in the area,” said Inspector DF Pace. Seven of them at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, the others at several other hospitals in the area. “Three of these people, two men and one woman, were declared dead after arriving in hospitals, with multiple gunshot wounds.”
“There were hundreds of people just enjoying South Street, as they do every single weekend when the shooting broke out,” the inspector continued. According to reports from the Washington Post, the inspector spoke of “several shooters”. A policeman allegedly shot one of the assailants, putting him on the run. It is unclear whether the man who left the gun on the ground was injured. Police have recovered two guns, but have not made any arrests so far.
At the same time, the Philadelphia police are investigating another shooting that took place near the site of the tragedy: officers found 13 shells a few blocks away, but it is currently unclear whether the two shootings are related.
