They were asked not to do activities near the peak due to increased volcanic activity on Mount Slamet.

For information, this mountain, which is located in the Regency/City of Pemalang, Banyumas, Brebes, Tegal and Purbalingga, is one of the mountains that has many people interested in climbing.

Based on the press statement received, in the 24-hour report on May 12 2024 00:00-24:00 WIB there were 2 gusts of earthquake with an amplitude of 3 mm and an earthquake duration of 27-36 seconds.

Apart from that, there were also 17 deep volcanic earthquakes with an amplitude of 3-19 mm, SP 2.4-3.7 seconds and an earthquake duration of 15-24 seconds and 1 continuous tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 0.5-7 mm, dominant 2 mm.

Based on this report, Mount Slamet’s activity level is at Alert Level II.

The increase in volcanic activity prompted hundreds of climbers who were climbing to the peak to be advised by the Mount Slamet basecamp to immediately descend for safety.
